Donna Felicia Gibbs was born October 19, 1971, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Mary Benson Gibbs and the late Willie Gibbs, Sr. “Mz. Chevy,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, went home to be the Almighty Father on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Mz. Chevy was educated in the public schools of Richland School District Two where she attended Richland Northeast High School. She worked as a cosmetologist at Platinum Hair Studio.
Donna enjoyed throwing the biggest and best parties ever! She was so creative, stylish, and most definitely was a “DIVA.” She did not play about her hair and nails; she was always manicured. She knew everyone in Columbia, and for sure, everyone in Columbia knew Mz. Chevy. She was that Girl!!!
If you knew Mz. Chevy you knew that her favorite saying was “Blind, Crippled, or Crazy, I don’t play about mine.” She was so funny, the one thing that we are all sure of is that she lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every day of it; and she made the best of every day. She also didn’t play about her Black Boy aka Geno Black.
Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her and whose lives she so lovingly touched.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Mz. Chevy are her three loving children, Donneisha, Rashawn and Rashim Gibbs; five grandchildren, Ray Ray, Raylon, Raylin, Fat Fat and Shamerra; her loving mother, Mary B. Gibbs; her caring and devoted brother, Willie Gibbs; and two nieces, Paris and Lauren Gibbs; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
