Diane Nelson Obituary

Diane Guess Nelson was born August 10, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late William Arthur Sr. and Lila Mae Larry Guess. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Diane was educated in the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Diane was employed as a branch supervisor with Wachovia Bank for over 30 years. She was also employed with the South Carolina Department of Social Services for several years.

She was baptized at an early age where she also accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Diane was the vice president of Lady's in Faith Singers where she traveled to different cities singing praises to her Heavenly Father. In 2017, she became a member of Word of God Church and Ministries. She also attended and joined First Church, however, in her latter days she worshiped with Word of God where her spirit was fed and nourished by the Word of God.

Diane was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her son, Jason O Riley; brothers, Tommy Lee (Rosa) Guess, Jimmy Lee Guess, Timothy Guess, Nathan Jackson Sr, and Forest Chestnut; and her sisters, Mary Ann Guess, Sheila Gortman, and Aderine Guess.

Those left to cherish her precious and loving memories are her daughters, Laura Guess, Dominick Guess, and Lauren Guess; and son, Yahshua Nelson Sr.; caring brothers, William Guess, Thurmond Guess, and Alfred (Tina) Guess; loving sisters, Jennifer Moore, Lisa Guess, Tonya Brown, and Alma (Fred) Williams; six (6) grandchildren, Patrick Guess, Tiwanna Guess, Sedrick Guess, Jayla Riley, Niyjasen Riley, and Antwanique Green; eleven (11) adoring great grandchildren, Olishea Hughey, Niobe Guess, Alayah Guess, Christian Stewart, Kenion Hearn, London Guess, Kobe Guess, Tevin Brosia Jr., Trevon Riley, Nidiya Rucker, Layla Rucker and Bellamy Riley; and three (3) precious great-great-grandchildren, Emmarie Guess, Alicia Davis, and Yahshua Nelson Jr.; bonus boys, Trevor Scott and Kamello Franklin; bonus daughter, Le’aniah Mulligan special friend, Trena Crosby; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,

and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
