Devon Roney Obituary

Mr. Devon Deshon Roney was born on May 18, 1995 in Columbia, SC.  He was the beloved son of Alberta Roney and Nathaniel Brown.  On Monday, September 2, 2019, Devon departed this earthly life for eternal rest with God at Providence Hospital Northeast.

Devon, “Devoo” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Richland County where he earned his GED.  He was employed as a construction worker and loved his job.

Devon found his way to Jesus!  He was a true believer and loved the Lord.  When he was able, he would find a house to worship the Lord.

Devon lived a full and happy life.  He believed in God first and his family.  He was unselfish, full of love which was evident in his last heroic acts of life.  He was an aspiring rapper.  He was loved by all.  He was excited and filled with joy, patiently awaiting the arrival of his precious baby girl in February.  Jewbilee, daddy loves you!  I will live through you and be forever in your heart.

Devon was preceded in death by his brother, James Westley Sumpter; maternal grandfather, Millard Clinkscales; and paternal grandfather, Nathan Brown.

Devon leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving and devoted parents, Alberta Roney of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Nathaniel Brown of Washington, DC; sisters Natoya Brown and Sky Brown, both of Columbia, SC; brother, Cortez Jiles of Columbia, SC; maternal grandmother, Veronica Clinkscales of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; paternal grandmother, Mary Davis of Aiken, SC; the beautiful mother of his child, Michaelynn Lewis of Columbia, SC; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
