Dessie Ann Ross was born June 16, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved daughter of the late James Thompson and Edna Burrell. She completed this early life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Dessie attended and was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County. Upon graduation of High School, she attended Columbia College. She later began her career in manufacturing, but eventually retired from the security services industry.
Dessie was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and The American Legion. She enjoyed an active social life filled with family and friends. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Dessie was also preceded in death by her mother, father, oldest and beloved daughter, Yolanda Kaye Ross and her brother, Willie James Thompson.
Those will forever cherish Dessie’s fond and precious memories are her daughters, Lisa Ross, Felita Ross, and Mary Miller; loving siblings, Hattie (Silas) Bright, Doris (Willy) Portee, and Henry Thompson; as well as her eleven (11) grandchildren; nine (9) great-grandchildren; an aunt and uncle; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are saddened by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
