Dennis Lewis was born September 30, 1938, in Gallivants Ferry, in Horry County, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Dude Pink Lewis and Ruby Olia Gore. He departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
He was educated in the public schools of Horry County. After completion of his education, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for three years as a patrol sergeant. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he worked as a truck driver for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Bethel AME Church where he attended faithfully and regularly until his health declined.
Mr. Lewis was also preceded in death by two daughters; and his two sisters, Elwood Cantey and Katherine Cochran.
He is lovingly survived by his son, Dennis Dale Lewis, Jr., of Mullins, South Carolina; two daughters, Deltas Lewis Harley, of Mullins, South Carolina; and Daphne (Ricky) Washington of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Kendrick Lewis Owens, Anthony Johnson, Dennis Reaves, III, Kannan Lewis, Christopher Harley, Brandon Harley, Justin Harley and Jazmin Harley; a special niece, Cheryl Cochran-Allen of Conway, SC; his special friend and caregiver, Claire Zeigler of Columbia, SC; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is with the Lord.
