Deacon Willie R. Knight, Sr. was born on January 12, 1947, in Bronx, New York. He was the son of the late Mr. Claude Knight and the late Mrs. Willie Lee Cameron. He departed this earthly life on early Tuesday morning, July 7, 2020.
Willie was educated in the public schools of Manhattan, New York. Upon completion of school, he was drafted into the United States Army. His tour of duties took him to many places including, Germany, Alaska, Korea, and Panama, to name a few.
After serving 21 years in the US Army, he retired and continued as an Executive Chef, from which he retired also. Willie was first ordained as a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church on August 27, 1978, in Anchorage, Alaska. He loved the Lord and accepted Him as his personal Savior at an early age. He later became an ordained Deacon at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road under the leadership of Bishop A.C. Jackson.
On July 2, 1999, Deacon Knight married Shirley Eaddy, his lovely wife of 21 years.
Deacon Knight was preceded in death by a daughter, Desiree Monique Knight.
Deacon Willie Knight leaves to cherish his loving memory: his loving wife of the home, Mrs. Shirley Knight; two daughters, Yavaiza (Anthony) Cargill of Panama, and Sherry (Kevin) Brown of Columbia, SC; one son, Willie (Latissa) Knight, Jr. of LaGrange, GA; four grandchildren, Bronx Knight Cargill, Messiah Knight, Zion Knight, and Kevin Brown, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; four brothers-in-law, Sr. Elder Benjamin (Beverly) Eaddy of Columbia, SC, Charles (Laura) Eaddy of Florence, SC, Manzy Eaddy of Florence, SC, and Minister Kristy Johnny Eaddy of Lawton, OK; one sister-in-law, Sr. Elder Diane (Walter) Jackson of Columbia, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends. Deacon Knight will surely be missed.
