Deacon John Adams, Jr. Obituary

Deacon John Adams, Jr. was born on June 24, 1959, in Columbia, SC., the Beloved son of the late John Adams, Sr. and Carrie B. Jackson Adams. He was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

John was a lifelong resident of Gadsden, SC and attended public schools in Richland County before graduating from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 1977. He attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama and earned an associate degree in Automotive Technology from Midlands Technical College.

His early religious education occurred at St. Mark Baptist church of Gadsden, SC.  He was a member of Revival Center Northeast where he has served for the past 12 years and was ordained in the office of Deacon.

John spent his early years working as an automotive mechanic but found his true career passion as a long-distance truck driver; a career that he worked in for over 20 years. He drove from coast to coast and was able to tell stories about a multitude of places in between.

John was a devoted husband and father; he was kind, considerate, and generous and he Loved the Lord. He was willing to give his assistance and all that he had to help anyone in need. His Revival Center family recently began to refer to him as Deacon “John-John”. He devoted his time to teaching the children in the children’s ministry of Revival Center.

He was united in holy matrimony to Evangelist Vern Richardson Adams with whom he shared 39 years of love, happiness, and devotion. This union was blessed with the birth of two children.

He was also preceded in death by a baby girl, Brandy Lashanta Adams.

Those who will cherish his fond and precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Evangelist Vern Adams;  daughter, Brittany L. Adams; three brothers, Ronald (Kathy) Adams of Hopkins, SC, Frank Adams of Gadsden, SC, and Johnny L. (Jacqueline) Catoe of Columbia, SC; one sister, Dorcas (Randy) Kitchings of Wagener, SC;  one brother in law, Roland Richardson of Tangerine, FL; four sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Porterfield of Philadelphia, PA, Betty Richardson of Philadelphia, PA, Estella Manning of Columbia, SC, and Freda Richardson of Columbia, SC; one uncle, seven aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
