David Vincent Garrett “King David” was born December 31,1949 in Charlotte, NC. He was the beloved son of the late Thomas Garrett and Mary Lou Mitchell Garrett. At an early age, David accepted Christ and held the high value of Christianity that his parents instilled in him. David transitioned from this life on December 4, 2021, at Agape Hospice in Columbia, SC.
David was a proud graduate of C.A. Johnson High School Class of 1968 where he still holds sports records until this day. After graduation he immediately joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for 11 years as an Inventory Management Supervisor. He received many awards and recognition during his time in service. After his military career, he attended Greenville Technical College, where he obtained an Associate of Science degree in Paralegal Studies.
David lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, for about 40 years. He loved calling his family on a weekly basis, if not more frequently. He loved his family dearly, as well as, listening to his music. He was a dedicated fan of the America’s Team, Dallas Cowboys.
David is survived by his two sons, Travis David Garrett (Tarrena) and Todd Vincent Garrett (Ivy). He also leaves to mourn his death, 6 grandchildren Travis David Garrett, Jr., Travonte Davone Garrett, Denari Vincent Garrett, Todd Vincent Garrett II, Janiyah Avril Garrett, and Isiah Vincent Garrett and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Velma Hughes (Columbia, SC) and one brother Charles Garrett (Queens, New York). He was preceded in death by one brother James Garrett, Sr, and sister Mary Catherine Garrett Hart. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews
