David Taylor was born March 25, 1938 to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene and Marie Taylor in Richland County. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at his home.
David, affectionately known as Fuzzy, Bro, Uncle Bro and Mr. Taylor to so many, attended public schools in Richland County. At an early age, “Fuzzy” joined Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 of Columbia, SC, where he was a faithful and active member while his health allowed.
Fuzzy learned what it was to have a strong work ethic in his youth, and became employed at the Saw Mill by his uncle William Boyles. He would then obtain his commercial driver’s license and began a career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, where he remained until his retirement. Fuzzy was also a master at cutting trees, a skill he learned from his Uncle William as a teenage boy. Following retirement, he became the owner and operator of Taylor’s Tree Services where he actively worked until he was 80 years of age.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita Faye Taylor; two brothers, Eugene Jr. and William Taylor; four sisters, Lottie T. Scott, Lauretta T. Lide, Norma T. Turner, Ann Taylor, and his parents.
David “Fuzzy” Taylor leaves to cherish his memories, his beautiful daughters, Deirdre T. (Curtis, Jr.) Murph, Gaile Green, Trina Taylor, Elizabeth T. (Craig) Hall, and Angela Taylor all of Columbia, South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grands; four sisters, Della T. (John) Lawson, Minnie T. Morris and Eleanor T. Morris all of Columbia, SC and Margaret T. Thomas of Elizabeth, New Jersey; a special niece, reared in his childhood home, Shirley T.
