Deacon Daniel Cornelius Jacobs entered this life as a precious gift to the late Elder Van Jacobs, Sr., and the late Lila Bell Jacobs on June 29, 1959. He was the ninth of eleven children. After an extended illness, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday morning, December 7, 2022, at his residence in Hopkins, South Carolina, while in the arms of his loving and devoted wife.
Deacon Jacobs was reared in a home with the support of a loving family. He attended Richland County public schools, graduating from Lower Richland High School in the Class of 1977. From childhood, he learned carpentry skills from his father.
Deacon Jacobs was employed with General Sales Company in Columbia, where he served with superb work ethics in his job duties until his health declined. After forty plus years of dedicated service, he retired as an operations manager.
On April 26, 1982, Daniel married the love of his life, the former Darlene Rivers. They shared forty blissful years together.
Deacon Jacobs’ unique character afforded him treasured and unforgettable friendships. He loved unconditionally and was always ready and willing to help anyone with whom he came in contact. His giving spirit and unwavering faith touched many.
Daniel “Boone” had a passion for the outdoors. A fervent fisher and hunter, he took advantage of every fishing and hunting opportunity he could with his family and friends. He was a member of the Jacobs Boys Hunting Club, and will be remembered for his infectious smile, humorous personality, and steadfast loyalty. He was also a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
From his childhood, Daniel was reared in a home with strong Christian values, and eventually became a member of Apostolic Doctrine Evangelistic Church of Jesus Christ. After confession of having repented of his sins, he was baptized in the precious name of Jesus Christ, and later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on February 11, 1990, according to the scripture found in Acts 2:38.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Jacobs was also preceded in his homegoing by the following siblings: Van Jacobs Jr., Ralph Jacobs, Patricia Graves, and Lorraine Smith; and a godchild, Sebastian Scott, Jr.
Left to cherish precious memories and a wonderful legacy are, his loving and devoted wife of the home, Darlene Rivers Jacobs; loving sisters, Mary E. Myers and Lila Scott; loving brothers, Grice Jacobs, Randolph Jacobs, Wesley Jacobs (Betty), Elder James Calvin Jacobs (Gloria Jean) and Carlos Jacobs (Katherine); god-children, Joshua Myers, Ralph Jacobs, Hannah Myers, Timothy Richardson, Jr. and Destiny Evora; loving aunts, Betty Jacobs and Ruth Ann Brown; loving in-laws, Anthony Rivers, Robert Rivers (Mary), Leo Rivers (Connie), Darryl Rivers (Ralynn), Dwayne Rivers, Riley Rivers (Loretta) and Dorthy Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends.
