Cynthinia Elaine Ginyard Evans was born April 21, 1957 the beloved daughter of the late Coit Ginyard Jr., and Roberta “Ms. Bert” Seaborn-Smith. On Thursday, March 26, 2026, she heard the voice of the Lord and in the early morning hours she peacefully flew away to be with the Lord.
Cynthinia was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a proud 1971 graduate of Spring Valley High School. She continued her education and attended Mansfield Business College. She was employed with her family business, “Berts Grill” that was located on Taylor Street and later on North Main Street with her mother and children. She was also previously employed with Fort Jackson, Goodwill, McDonalds Segra Park (Fireflies), and her favorite, the SC State Fair.
Cynthinia was so full of life. She loved her children and her family dearly. She enjoyed eating a good prime rib steak and baked potato. She was always the light of any room she entered. Cynthinia always found a way of helping anyone who was in need, always giving even when it wasn’t needed. She showed and gave love to any and everyone. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, shopping, gospel and southern soul music, and oh how she loved a good buffet and sweet tea.
Cynthinia was a member of the Bible Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ and often visited Clement Road Church of God where she enjoyed praising God and fellowshipping with others. She enjoyed riding with friends and she loved to sing. She was a former member of Columbia Mass Choir Phases I & II and currently a member of the City Wide Mass Choir under the direction of Minister Anthony P. Outen whom she adored and called her brother.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two husbands; three brothers, a son; two granddaughters; seven aunts, and nine uncles.
Cynthinia leaves to cherish fond and precious memories her daughter, Wendy Small; sons Samtonius (Tamehsa) Johnson Small, Stevera (Jasmine) Finley Small, all of Columbia, SC ; sister, Kathy (Richard) Shell; sister-in-law, Brenda (Morris) Ginyard; grandchildren; Kwamaine, Thaddeus, Ezekial, Elijah, Jahon, Alexius, Alondra Mahogany, Tymon, Samaya, Samtonius, Christopher and Krissy, all of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Dazaun, Kamaris, Jaliyah & Jayse, all of Columbia, SC; nieces, Kellie, Rachel, Joel, Colby and Darain; uncle, Theodore (Dorothy) Burnette Peay of Asheville, NC; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
