Cynthia Mae Smith Obituary

Cynthia Mae Henryhand Smith was born May 19, 1939, in Salters, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Sadie Holmes Henryhand. She departed this life on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Cynthia was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, SC. She worked for Town and Tours as a server. Cynthia was married to George Smith in August 1964.

Cynthia accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, where she attended St. Mark United Methodist Church of Salters, South Carolina. She later moved to Columbia, South Carolina and joined Latter Rain DEC Inc of West Columbia, where she faithfully served on the choir, missionary board and as a hostess.

Cynthia was also a member of the Elk Lodge #611 Primo Rose Temple. Cynthia was a former member of the singing group the Friendly Gospel Singers and the Baby Gang. Her hobbies included making floral arrangements, morning prayer and worship sessions with her siblings and caring for those in need.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, George Smith; daughter, Mary Lee Green; and brothers, Samuel Henryhand Il, and James Edward Henryhand.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are her devoted children, Retired US MSG Harold (Bernadette) Patterson, Deloris H. Faison, Charles J. Smith, Bryan (Claudia) Marshall, Antronio (Erica) Smith;  her beloved sister, Elizabeth King; caring sister-in-law, Ernestine Henryhand; seventeen (17)  grandchildren; and fifteen (15) great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving  relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
