Curtis Lawrence Thompson, Jr. was born April 4, 1962, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the fifth child born to Sylvia Mae Howell Thompson and the late Curtis L. Thompson, Sr. He departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Lexington Medical Center, in West Columbia, South Carolina.
“Curt,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was education the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Richland Northeast High School in 1980. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served our country for 15 years. During his tenure, he achieved the rank of Staff Sargent serving as an Ammunition Specialist. He was the proud recipient of the Army Achievement Medal (3d Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Thompson was also preceded in death by his sister, Abigail Thompson Ashford.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are his loving and caring mother, Sylvia H. Thompson of Columbia, SC; his loving and caring siblings, Evelyn (Elder Lee) Muller of St. Matthews, SC; Sylvia (Ben) Thompson of Eastover, SC; Lawrence Howell, Fletcher Thompson and Jonathan Thompson, all of Columbia, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
