Coryell A. Bright was born December 30, 1980, in Columbia, South Carolina, the cherished son of Sylvester and Etta Lyles Bright. God called Coryell home on Friday, November 21, 2025.
"Cory" as he was affectionately known, was a proud graduate of Richland Northeast High School, where he showcased his athletic talents on the basketball court.
"Cory's" love for sports extended beyond the court as he became a passionate football fan cheering on his favorite teams — the Indianapolis Colts and the Clemson Tigers.
As a self-employed electrician and property manager, Coryell was dependable, and a steady presence, always ready to lend a hand to family and friends with home repairs and remodeling projects. His generosity and reliability were defining traits just as much as his honest, sometimes "brutally honest", nature. Coryell embraced life fully and enjoyed every moment.
Everyone that knew Coryell recognized his gift for "brokering" and finding a way to make things happen for those he loved. True to his nickname, "Cory Gotaction", he never met a stranger and always had "action". His legacy is one of unwavering loyalty, support, and genuine friendship. Coryell will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet him and to know him.
Above all, Coryell's greatest source of pride was his family. He was a dedicated and active father to his three (3) children: Jaylen, Jahun, and Jazlyn. Coryell spent his spare time with his Babygirl, whom he affectionately called "Jazz", enjoying father/daughter time and activities.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Coryell are his loving and devoted parents, Sylvester and Etta Bright of Columbia, SC; two (2) loving sons, Jaylen Bright of Columbia, CA; and Jahun Williams of Atlanta, GA; his adoring daughter, Jazlyn Bright; Grandmother, Margaret Johnson Glover, both of Columbia, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; a Goddaughter, Charlie Nelson of Charlotte, NC; special close cousins, Charlie Ashley of Columbia, SC, Jordan “Bree” Nelson of Atlanta, GA, and Gregory Canzater of Spartanburg, SC; the Greenhouse Crew; and a special cousin who was like a sister, Charnetta Robinson of Columbia, SC; along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all whom join the family in sharing in the grief caused by Coryell's untimely departure.
