Clarence L. Jamerson was born February 21, 1931, in Memphis, TN, the son of the late Albert and Carey Evans Jamerson. He departed this earthly life on Friday, January 23, 2026.
He moved to Cleveland, OH as a young adult. On Easter Sunday, 1951, Clarence was baptized and celebrated his First Holy Communion, and on September 15 of that year, he was wedded in Holy Matrimony to Dora Ann Fears. This union of love was blessed with three beautiful daughters, Clarice Ann, Doreen Linda, and Cheryl Dawn.
Clarence and his family relocated to Columbia, SC in 1972. He became an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School and then a founding member of St. John Neumann. He served as a volunteer with the Catholic Youth Organization. He also served his community as a coach and as Booster Club President for Dent Jr. High Band and Spring Valley Band and Chorus, founding the latter. He is a 4th Degree and has held several leadership positions in the Knights of Columbus. He was a Member of Emmanuel/Drew Park Senior Club, where he served multiple terms as President.
He was employed by Square D Electrical Company for 33 years before retiring. After a few years of being retired, Clarence opened a shoe store named Jamerson Shoes.
Clarence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Jamerson was preceded in death by Dora, his beloved wife of over 51 years; two daughters, Clarice Ann (Jim) Green and Doreen Linda (George) Phipps; five siblings, Celia J. Holmes, Cornelius Jamerson, Prescilla J. Walton, Willie Jimerson, and Margaret J. McCuller.
Clarence leaves to mourn his departure a loving and devoted daughter, Cheryl Dawn (Richie O.) Garner of Columbia, South Carolina; five grandsons, Victor D.
(Katrina) Jones Jr., Nicholas C. Hunt, Richie O. Garner, II, Clarence J.
Garner, and Andre' P. (Timorra) Garner; two great-grandsons, Victor D. Jones, III and Mavrik Jones; one brother, Elbert Jamerson; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives including a special niece, Samona "Only Granddaughter" McCuller; and a dear friend/"bonus daughter", Medrina "Candy" Gilliam.
May his soul rest in the peace of God because in the best sense of the word, he was a Christian loved by us, but God loved him first.
