Christine Green Tribble

September 6, 1938 ~ July 30, 2022 (age 83)

Christine G. Tribble, daughter of the late Gurney Gilbert and Ella Glen Gilbert, was born on September 6, 1938, in Dorchester, South Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Christine attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Kennedy High School Class of 1957.  She grew up in the “Sandridge” community alongside her cousins and other close relatives.

At an early age, she joined St. John United Methodist Church in Dorchester, South Carolina.

In her first marriage, Christine briefly moved to New York City where her daughter Bonita, was born.  After returning to South Carolina, her son Renard, was born in St. George, SC. After divorcing, she and her two children moved to Columbia, SC to be closer to her sisters. Christine worked most of her adult life with Gleam Head Start Program.  After many years of dedicated service, she retired from Gleam in 2006.

As God would have it, she later met and married the love of her life, Wallace Tribble.  Together, they were blessed with the birth of one son, Dedric.  Christine and Wallace enjoyed going on vacations, watching western films, and dining together. Of the many amazing things she did and accomplished, Christine enjoyed cooking, making sweet potato pies, and hosting her family for Thanksgiving. She loved spoiling her grandkids, listening to gospel music, talking to her girlfriends and sisters on the phone, being with friends, dancing, and oh how she loved to sing. Christine was a member of New Life Fellowship Church, where she served as church “Mother,” as well as being a part of several ministries.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Richard Lou “Luly” Johnson.

Those cherishing her fond and precious memory are her loving and devoted husband, Wallace Tribble of the home; sons, J. Renard (Annette) Green and Dedric Tribble, both  of Columbia, SC; her loving daughter, Bonita Bennett of Lexington, SC; her sister, Clara Quzack of Columbia, SC;  grandchildren, Deon (Maquita) and Lordwin Bennett, Jarrod, Chelsea and Taylor Green; four (4) great-grandchildren; her  aunt, Julia Kate Glen of Dorchester, SC; brother-in-law, Cline (Dina) Tribble of Newberry, SC; sisters-in-law, Hattie Gary and Alberta Tribble, both  of Columbia, SC; and Margaret Jones of Newberry, SC; a very dear friend, Bernice Mickens of West Columbia, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends, all of whom will dearly miss her but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
