Christina Shanada Caughman was born October 30, 1974, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Wayne Hopkins and the late Karen Caughman. She was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Affectionately called “Chris” by family and friends, Christina was educated in the public school of Richland School District One where she graduated from C. A. Johnson High School. She continued her education at Midlands Technical College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business/Office Systems Technology. She spent her later years being dedicated to her family as a cook, caretaker, encourager, and supported.
Chris will be remembered for her legacy of love for all those around her, for she never met a stranger. Whenever you were in her presence, you could always feel her love. She may not have had tangible things to share, but she gave what she had with love and affection.
In addition to her mother, Christina was also preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Henry Jennings; grandmother, Mary Caughman; and two granddaughters.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Christina are her husband, Cedric Gilley, Sr.; loving sons, Jasen Caughman and Cedric Gilley, Jr., both of Columbia, SC; loving daughters, Kristian Gilley, Jeleh Gilley, Shanadia Gilley and Whitney Gilley, all of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Naomi Caughman, Kingston Gilley, Ka’moria Kennedy, Ty’rek Kennedy, Jr., Ky’launi Kennedy, Zakari Gilmore, Ya’Zari Gilmore and Mei’Lani Gilmore; loving father, Wayne (Linda) Hopkins; caring grandfather, Jesse Hopkins; brothers, Hampton “Dirt” Caughman, Antione Caughman and Aaron “Ace” Caughman, all of Columbia, SC; lifelong friends, Lisa Jenkins and Beatrice Williams; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
