Charles C. Asbill, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Charles Clay Asbill, Sr., 83, transitioned to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after a lengthy illness.  He was born on January 30, 1942 in Columbia, SC, to the late Edward Asbill, Sr. and Albertha Reed Asbill.

Charles graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in 1960, and after he graduated, entered the U.S. Navy. After his service in the U.S. Navy, Charles pursued a career as an Executive Sales Consultant, where he was able to meet people of all walks of life.  He returned to South Carolina in the spring of 2004.

Upon his return, Charles became a faithful member of Haskell Heights Progressive Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and helping hand to the Pastor.  He found joy in assisting others by driving the church van on Sundays, Wednesdays and for the Youth Summer Program.  He represented his neighborhood by being a member of the Forest Heights Community Organization. Charles served in all of his capacities faithfully until his health began to decline.

Charles’ desire to help others, especially family members, was a top priority in his life.  He assisted multiple family members during difficult times in their lives, providing assistance and sometimes, just being good company, as he shared his life stories.

Mr. Charles Clay Asbill, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eddie Earl (Quincy) Asbill and sisters, Bertha Marie Gilmore and Dorothy Glover (Raymond) Anderson.

He leaves to mourn his son, Charles C. Asbill, II (Shalana) and grandson, Charles C. Asbill, III.  Brothers, Edward Asbill, Jr. of San Diego, CA (retired Navy) and LeVera Asbill (Pattie) of DeSoto, TX (retired Air Force); a loving niece, Agnes G. Ruff, devoted, longtime friend, John Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members who will miss him dearly.
