Celia Mae Simpkins Chamberlain was born May 28, 1945, to the Late Albert and Lois Luchie Simpkins, in Edgefield, SC. She departed this earthly life for eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
At an early age, Celia joined Springfield Baptist Church. Her marriage to the late James W. Chamberlain moved her membership to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. At Mt. Lebanon, Celia served faithfully, in various roles, until her health declined, however, her faith and dedication remained.
Not only did she work hard at the church, but she worked hard alongside some of her life-long friends at Riegel Textile and Edgefield Healthcare Nursing Home. Even after retirement, she was determined to work and served as a Caregiver with Always Best Care. Celia made it her mission to serve and care for anyone in need, and she did it well!
In addition to her parents, Celia was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James Chamberlain; her daughter, Ontinell Hill; son, Darryl Chamberlain; and her siblings, James Simpkins, Albert Simpkins Jr., Marie Sanders, and Bernadine Bennett.
She leaves here to cherish her love, devotion, and sweet memories a son, Marcus (Kisha) Chamberlain; and granddaughter, Ongela (Brandon) Nance; grandchildren, Emanuel Hill, Vanteesha Robinson, Jaylin Carter, Marisha Chamberlain, Daryl Chamberlain, Lamarcus Chamberlain, and Lyric Chamberlain; great-grandchildren, Reyuna, Brandon Jr, Demauriay, Harmony, Braydon, Sariyah, and Miyori; siblings, Mildred (Obbie) Talbert, Luvonia (Willie) Brooks, Oscar (Kristi) Simpkins, Outerbridges Simpkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors; along with her special friend, Josephine Robertson; all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now with the Lord.
