Catherine G. Carter was born on July 25, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Clara Gardner Brooks. On Sunday, October 2, 2022, our beloved Catherine passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine was educated in Richland County School District and over the years she held employment at Richland Memorial Hospital and later with Defender Services, Inc.
Catherine “Cat” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to dance and found joy in life itself. She attended Kingdom of Zion Ministries where she was embraced by her church family. She was also well loved and a respected neighbor in her community.
Though she is no longer physical with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Carter was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lewis Carter; brother, Timothy Brooks; her sisters, Ethel Washington, Mary Jones, Glenda Brooks, and Patricia Bolar; and her grandmother, Clara Sellers Gardner Brooks.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, April Gardner (Lee), and Hope Glover (James); son, Joseph (Karla Asneth) Carter; grandchildren, Kwa`Terria, Kwa`Tez, Sincere, Nati, Maia Queztal, and Semaj; great-grandchildren, Chance, Seven; three brothers, Tom (Linda) Gardner, Clarence (Adrian) Brooks, and Isaiah (Ruby) Brooks; a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is with the Lord.
