Catherine Watkins Williams, affectionately known as “Cathy,” was born on November 27, 1955, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late James “Bunny” Watkins and Mae Frances “BayBay” Watkins. She entered her heavenly home on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Cathy received her formal education in the Richland County School District and later graduated from Keenan High School in 1973. With a servant’s heart, she dedicated 43 years of her life working as a Dietician at Baptist Hospital. There, she had the blessing of serving alongside her beloved mother and sister, creating memories and bonds that would last a lifetime.
Catherine was united in marriage to the late Marion Williams, with whom she shared many years of companionship and devotion. She was known for her signature red lipstick, her love of cooking, and barbeque (grilling and eating), and she was a Carolina Gamecocks Football and Girls Basketball SUPER FAN.
She was preceded in death by not only her husband and parents, but also by her brothers, James “Jimmy” Watkins, Jr., Michael Watkins, and Jerry Lee Watkins; and her sister, Sherrie Davis.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her children, Brian Watkins, Bobby Alexander, Kelly Alexander, Ashley Alexander, and her bonus daughter, Monica Williams. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Brian Hayes, Brion Hayes, Bryonna Watkins, Joshua McGraw, Jaylon Alexander, Jamere Alexander, Jahaun Alexander, Malia Alexander, Miracle Leverette; and bonus grandchildren, Desmind Williams and Destiny Williams; as well as great-grandchildren who will grow up hearing stories of her strength. She is also survived by her loving aunt, Hazel Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends who thank God for the blessing of her life.
Catherine’s life was a testimony of love, resilience, and faith. Though she is no longer with us in earthly form, her spirit, and the love she poured into others will continue to live on.
