Carrie B. Taylor

It is said there are three words in the English vocabulary that are more solemn than any others. They are Life, Death and Eternity. Life is more solemn than death; to live is more serious than to die. The object of Christ’s death was life. A Christian’s death gives them a more abundant life. Death is a joyful messenger of peace whose kind hand opens to weary pilgrim the gate of immortality and lets the oppressed go free.

Deaconess Carrie Bell Taylor was born on June 3,1928, in Edgewold, South Carolina the beloved daughter of the late Elijah and Mamie Branch Roberts. She did attend public school for a short while and earned her JESUS Diploma.  A living testimony, she was a two-time breast cancer survivor!

At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member until her health declined. She served faithfully as second leader on the Senior Choir, member of the Missionary Society Ministry, served on the Hospitality Committee and was a Deaconess.

Carrie was united in holy matrimony to Isaac Taylor on December 15, 1945. This union was blessed with three children. Isaac Taylor preceded her in death on March 13,1997.

Mrs. Taylor worked at the Baptist Medical Center of Columbia as cook for twenty-two years. She loved cooking and gardening. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. A busy life ended on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Estelle Brown, Lottie Clarks and Ida Henry; and brothers, Elijah Roberts and Deacon Samuel Roberts Sr.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving children, Annie Cheeseboro, Isaac Taylor and Sharon Watson, all of Columbia, SC; nine (9) grandchildren, Paul Taylor, Dana Thomas, Niesha (Ron) Jones, Darone Thomas, Tierra Williams, Iesha Taylor, Stephon Taylor and Jessica Cheeseboro all of Columbia., and Princess (Ryan) Clemonts of Hope Mill, NC; sixteen (16) great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; loving sisters, Thelma Watson of Columbia, SC, Ellen Smith and Maggie Daughtery both of Brooklyn, NY; as well as a host of  devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relative and dear friends, all of whom will forever cherish fond and precious memories.
