Carrie B. Baldwin

January 29, 1938 ~ September 6, 2021 (age 83)


Mrs. Carrie B. Baldwin of Eastover, South Carolina was born January 29, 1938. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Rosa Patterson. She departed this earthly life on Monday, September 6, 2021.

Mrs. Baldwin attended the public schools of Richland County. She later moved to Washington, DC under the guardianship of her aunt and uncle, Lewis and Fannie Patterson. While living in DC, she met and married the late Jerry Baldwin, they were married for 53 years. She retired in1997 from the DC school district and she also enjoyed catering events.

While in Washington, DC, she was affiliated with Holy Cross Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Stella V. Mack and Mission Temple Church under the leadership of Apostle Ernest M. Murphy, Ill. After retirement she moved back to Eastover, South Carolina, where she attended Unity Evangelistic Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. Julia M. Lakin. Later in life she joined True Vine Temple in Orangeburg, South Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy L. Patterson, where she faithfully served as the Church Mother until her health declined. Her commitment to God and His people were limitless.

Mrs. Carrie B. Baldwin was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Jerry Baldwin; her five brothers, Willie B. Patterson, John Patterson, Jr., James Patterson, Paul Patterson, and Joseph Patterson; three sisters, Margaret Whitner, Dr. Julia M. Lakin, and Dr. Mary Jacobs.

Those who will cherish fond and precious memories are three brothers; Deacon Roosevelt (Mildred) Patterson, Deacon Heyward (Sylvia) Patterson, both of Eastover, South Carolina and Pastor Jimmy (Barbara) Patterson of Orangeburg, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Nellie B. Walden and Thelma Baldwin of Pittsboro, North Carolina; a special sister/friend, Barbara Smith of Washington, DC; along with her adopted siblings Daniel, Carrie, Selena, Edward, Joseph, and Willie Howard, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives, that will miss her dearly.
