Carolyn V. Jenkins Bethea

Deaconess Carolyn Victoria Jenkins-Bethea was born on March 12, 1942, in Harlem, New York, the beloved daughter of Jesse E. and Alice Jenkins  Hopkins.  On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, while surrounded by the loved of her family,  Deaconess Carolyn Jankins-Bethea went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Carolyn attended and graduated from Morris Hiah School in Bronx, New York.  She later attended and graduated with a BS Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Elim Bible College in Lima, New York.

Carolyn worked for several years as a traffic enforcement agent for the City of New York Department of Transportation before joining The United States Postal Service as a mail handler. She retired  from The United States Postal Service after twenty-three years of service. While residing in New York,  Carolyn was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses.

Carolyn met the love of her life James E. Bethea, and on  August 15, 2008, they were united in Holy Matrimony.

Carolyn was a member of God’s Church of Deliverance where she was ordained as a Deaconess.  During her tenure there she served faithfully until her health declined.

In her spare time, she loved shopping, traveling, bowling and playing  cards with family and friends. But most of all, she loved going to the gym having held many gym memberships during her life.  But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with God and her family and friends. 

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories are her loving and devoted husband, James E. Bethea; loving sons, Hasan O. Jenkins and Maskela R. (Doris) Jenkins; adoring grandchildren, Lei Kirby, Randon Jenkins, Chyna V. Jenkins, Oliva R. Jenkins, Brandon Warren and Naomi Hardnett Drummond; great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Jahlaya, Kylee, Mazi, Khole and Kori; her loving parents, Jesse E. and Alice Hopkins; caring brother, Alfred Hopkins; devoted sisters, Debra Mottley, Delores Frazier, Odell Hopkins and Jackie McCoy; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now with the Lord.
