Carnell Hinnant, Jr. was born on September 2, 1959, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of Jessie L. Marhiney and the late Carnell Hinnant. On Sunday, July 05, 2026, Carnell passed away at the Midlands Health Rehabilitation Center in Columbia.
“Jr.”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, as a young man in Columbia, Carnell worked at various jobs including landscaping, security, warehouse and maintenance jobs at a local university.
While attending church with his mother, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and was baptized.
Carnell assisted his family in rearing his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed telling stories, swimming for exercise and helping around the house. Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him.
Carnell Hinnant, Jr. is lovingly survived by his devoted and caring mother, Jessie L. Marhiney; loving sisters, Nora (Curtis) Boeck, and Brenda Thompson; caring brothers, Leonard (Norma Jean) Hinnant, Eddie (Hattie) Hinnant, and Major Leo Hinnant; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are sadden by his departure, but have beautiful memories they will forever cherish.
