Calvert (Tacki) Tabbar Griffin, was born December 9, 1951, in Walterboro, South Carolina, the beloved son of late William Pete and Relia Berry Griffin. He departed this life for eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Calvert was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for many years, carrying the values of duty, integrity, and service throughout his life. After his military service, he became self-employed, building a career through hard work and determination.
“Tacki”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, found joy in the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature in his spare time. He especially loved gardening, taking great pride in growing vegetables, and enjoyed spending time fishing whenever he could.
Calvert was a member of First Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in Columbia, South Carolina. Although Calvert was a man of few words, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of those who loved and knew him.
Calvert was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, David Bells, Kenneth Griffin, George Griffin, Tony Griffin, Sharon Bowen, and Helen Ann Griffin.
Calvert leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Shana M. Griffin and Kelli Griffin-Cooper; three grandchildren, Kardia Williams, Kaylan Cooper, and Karson Griffin; and two great-grandchildren, Kenya Williams-Fanning, and Kiyan Hayes, all of Columbia, South Carolina; five brothers, William H.
