Brenda P. Singleton

Brenda Palmer Singleton, a devoted servant of God, cherished wife, and loving grandmother, slipped peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Brenda was born on July 17, 1956, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, the sixth of seven children born to the late Frank and Camilla Houser Palmer, raised in the close-knit Kitfield Community.

She received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. It was during these formative years in Moncks Corner that she met the absolute love of her life and high school sweetheart, James Singleton, Jr., affectionately known to all as "Sparky."  Brenda and Sparky shared over 51 years of true wedded bliss. From this beautiful union, they reared two sons whom they dearly adored.

A dedicated professional, Brenda worked for the United States Federal Government for more than thirty years. She retired in 2015 from the U.S. Army Student Detachment, allowing her to fully embrace her favorite roles as a full-time, devoted wife and grandmother.

Brenda’s life was deeply rooted in her faith. As an active and devoted member of St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Irmo, SC, she briefly served faithfully as the Chairwoman of the Trustee Board, stood as a dedicated usher, and lifted her beautiful voice in the sanctuary choir. Brenda loved the Lord with all her heart and never missed an opportunity to sing His praises. Her favorite, comforting saying was always, “Thank God for Jesus.”

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Palmer; brothers, Donald Palmer and Rodger "Roy" Palmer; and nephew, Andrew Palmer.

Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love and a family who will forever cherish her memory including her loving and devoted husband, James "Sparky" Singleton, Jr.; her two beloved sons, James (Zipora) Singleton III of Detroit, MI, and Elliot (Daphne) Singleton of Columbia, SC; and her special daughter, Dremeia McDaniel of Clarksville, TN. She was the world's proudest grandmother "Granme" to her four precious grandchildren: Cierra Johnson, Nariyah Singleton, Zamiya Moss, and Zion Moss; her sisters, Lavina Smalls and Mary Palmer of Moncks Corner, SC; her brother, Zebedee (Shirley) Palmer of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Elaine Palmer and Hazel Singleton of Moncks Corner, SC, Dora Palmer of Horatio, SC, and Yvonne Singleton-Ravenell of Huger, SC; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She also leaves behind her beloved "seesters," Ms. Fay Geiger and Mrs. Shirley Cherry of Irmo, SC—along with many other close friends who, though not named, were always considered sisters in her heart.
