Mrs. Bobbie Jean Jeffers Myers was born in Richland County, South Carolina on September 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Henry, Sr. and Sallie Jacobs Jeffers. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Her early education was in the public schools of Richland County. Bobbie married Charles Richard Myers, Sr., on May 1, 1952. She worked briefly at Pine Lakes Rehabilitation Center as a skilled cook and baker, before deciding to return home and raise her children. She utilized her culinary skills in her homemaking duties with her family and close friends.
Bobbie maintained an extensive garden that she cultivated to prepare food for her family with love and care. Bobbie was an accomplished gardener who took great pride in canning and preserving her homegrown vegetables for her family to enjoy year-round. Bobbie was also a talented seamstress and would make and design clothes for her family. She had to implement a high level of math skills in order to design the clothes and garments.
She was baptized at an early age. Later in life she became a member of Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina where she proudly served on the Annie Myers Circle.
Bobbie was a friendly and supportive neighbor who showed compassion to her community. She would always take daily walks in her neighborhood to maintain her health and well-being. Along the way, she would often take the time to talk with her neighbors and check in on them. She would often host family gatherings that required much planning and preparation. She was an excellent organizer.
Bobbie loved cooking for her family, planting in her garden and tending to her plants and flowers. She baked delicious cakes and pies. We will never forget the wonderful dinners and holiday meals. She was the center of our lives.
Bobbie raised all of her children, grandchildren and some of her great-grandchildren as well. She instilled into her family the importance of integrity, compassion and kindness. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family to become caring and responsible adults. She was a fierce protector of her family and would do anything for them. With a heart of gold, she saw the best in others and always made everyone feel special. Her home was a safe space for family to gather and celebrate special occasions. It was also a place not only to celebrate, but to share dreams, hopes, challenges and struggles. She had an open door and was welcoming to everyone who entered.
Bobbie had a deep love for her brothers, sisters and parents as well. She would often check on them and help them with anything that they needed. They all grew up close and maintained their relationships throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; seven brothers, Henry Jeffers, Jr., Andrew Jeffers, Jessie Jeffers, Robert Jeffers, Jimmy Jeffers, Larry Jeffers and Billy Jeffers; sister, Evangeline Jeffers; and one grandson, Evan Morris Myers.
