Bertha Lee Taylor Moore was born December 9, 1945, in Columbia, SC to her beloved late parents, Anthony and Viola Oree Taylor. Over the years, Bertha was affectionately known by loved ones as “Pee Wee”, “Aunt Bert” and “Granny”. Bertha accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and she departed this life at her home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Bertha was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of Hopkins High School. Shortly after high school, she started a career of over 40 years at the Columbia Hospital and Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital until she retired in March of 2010.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, and Friend who enjoyed being around family members, traveling, and baking.
She served as a member of the Missionary Ministry at St. Mark Baptist Church in Gadsden, SC. Bertha also was once an active member of the Order of Eastern Star Mahalia Chapter who recently transitioned to the Sky E1 Chapter #131 in Columbia SC.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jesse Paul Moore and four (4) sisters, Joan Taylor, Lula Mae Taylor Scarborough, Martha Taylor Patterson, and Lillie Mae Taylor.
Fond and precious memories will be cherished by her loving son, Elijah (Karen) Moore; and her loving daughter, Sandra Moore, both of Columbia, SC; three granddaughters, Jasmine, Kiara, and Kendra Moore; and one great-granddaughter, Summer Moore, all of Columbia, SC; three caring brothers, James Anthony (Jackie) Taylor of Moncks Corner, SC; Paul Edward Taylor and Robert Fitzgerald Taylor, both of Columbia, SC ; six loving sisters, Mary Lee Taylor Moore, Lucille Taylor Goodson, Virginia Gail (Bruce) Taylor Sims, Brenda Joyce Taylor Gadsden, Linda Jean (Willie Ray) Taylor Hayes, Anna Lee Eubanks, Shyla Ganzy, all of Columbia, SC; and Ida Mae (Jeffery) Taylor Jones of Lawrenceville, GA; five sisters-in-law, Mae Morant and Vivian Moore both of Columbia, SC; Minnie Moore, Daisy Moore, and Louvenia (Rudy) Sinkler, all of Gadsden, SC; one aunt, Annie Mae Taylor Richardson of Gadsden, SC; a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
