Sister Bertha M. Milhouse was born March 2, 1952 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina and departed this life on November 7, 2019, at her home. Bertha was the fifth child born to the late Willie Lee and Clorine Stevenson Milhouse. Bertha was educated in the Richland County Public School System. She attended Ridgewood Elementary School, Fairwald Middle School and she was a member of the 1972 graduating class of Eau Claire High School.
Bertha attended Midlands Technical College where she received an Associate Degree in Business Management. She was employed by DXC Technology in Blythewood, South Carolina, as a Senior Business Analyst and Supervisor.
Along with her parents, the late Willie Lee and Clorine Stevenson and her siblings, Bertha moved to the Haskell Heights Community in 1958. In 2003, Bertha begin working with the Forest Heights Community Organization. She served as secretary of the organization for many years. Bertha was a member of Toastmasters International Club and worked with others to enhance their communication, social and speaking skills.
Bertha enjoyed traveling with family and friends stateside and abroad, interior decorating, sewing, meeting people and watching mystery movies.
Through the encouragement and example of her parents, Bertha gave her life to Christ at an early age and submitted to water baptism in Jesus name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38. After many years away from the church, on October 22, 2019, Bertha honored her promise to the Lord and rededicated her life to Christ and confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary J. Milhouse and her nephew Marcus A. Milhouse.
Those who will cherish her memory are her brother Willie (Dora) Milhouse, Piano Texas, her sisters, JoCarolyn Milhouse (Solomon) Amusan, Savannah, Georgia, Sarah Milhouse (Lawrence) Johnson, Columbia, South Carolina, an adopted brother, Aaron (Nellie) Brown, Columbia, South Carolina, one uncle, James (Carrie) Stevenson, Avon Park, Florida, two aunts Rose Stevenson, Avon Park, Florida, and Deloris Stevenson. Three nieces, Raquel Milhouse, Alpharetta, Georgia, Robina (James) Hayes, Columbia, South Carolina, Maria (Johnny) Berry, Waco, Texas, three nephews Edward M. Johnson, Columbia, SC, Andrew C. Johnson, Charlotte, NC and Stephen L. (Lilly) Johnson, host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
