Benjamin Jackson Jr. was born February 19, 1957, in Columbia, South Carolina to Benjamin Jackson Sr. and the late Lillian Young. He departed peacefully on Friday May 16, 2025, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Benjamin attended public schools in Columbia, South Carolina during his early years. He worked in the food service industry and was a Circulation and Distribution Manager at Black News. He was married to Ayanna Whitfield-Jackson.

He attended New Laurel Street Baptist Church located on Fairfield Road and was a reputable member of the community. He volunteered by helping those recovering from various addictions and getting their lives back together.

Benjamin Jackson was loved and respected by everyone who knew and loved him. He was a man with a big heart. He didn’t mind helping those in need or giving a little advice to help encourage others. He led by example and lived an amazing and prosperous life as a child of God. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, watching sports (including football), and traveling in general.

Benjamin Jackon was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Young; grandmother, Eartha Lee Gilliard; grandfather, Nathaniel Gilliard; brother, Aunzelo Jamison; and sister, Eartha-Lee Gomillion.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Ayanna Whitfield-Jackson of Columbia, South Carolina; father, Benjamin Jackson Sr. of Columbus, Georgia; sons, Benjamin Jackson Jr., Tony Robinson, and Christopher Robinson, all of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Christie Robinson of Columbus, Georgia; brothers,  Redonza Reed of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bradgident Young of Columbia, South Carolina, Marucs Jackson and Horacio Washington, both of Columbus, Georgia; sisters, Angela Matthews, Lorna Young, and Robin Manigaret, all of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly
