Sister Belendia Carolyn Anderson of Columbia, South Carolina, was born on August 19, 1950, the beloved daughter of the late Heyward and Ella Smith. She peacefully departed this life on Monday, April 6, 2026.
A proud graduate of Eau Claire High School, Class of 1968, Belendia went on to live a life firmly grounded in faith, family, and service to others.
In 1972, she was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, the late Deacon Jacob Anderson. Their marriage was marked by devotion, resilience, and unwavering love, lasting until his passing in 2014.
Belendia was baptized at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where she began her lifelong walk with the Lord. She faithfully served as a devoted member of the Killian, South Carolina assembly, holding the position of Women’s Auxiliary President for more than 30 years. Her ministry extended beyond her local church through active participation in mission work in Darlington, South Carolina, and Statesville, North Carolina, as well as dedicated service within the National Women’s Department. Her steadfast faith and tireless dedication were a true testament to her love for God and His people.
Belendia found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for growing plants and took great pride in preparing home-cooked meals that brought family and loved ones together. An avid collector of cookbooks, she expressed her love through nourishing both body and spirit. Known for being both loving and firm, she was a woman of strength, wisdom, and grace—guiding those around her with care, conviction, and compassion.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving daughters, Ta‑Tahisha (Dinichie) Ashe, Ellena Coretta Kennerly (Hakahim) Israel, Melissa Carol McCloud, and Miracle Danielle (Clifton) Davenport. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Alicia, Erica, Dinichie (DeeDee) Jocelyn, Aubrii, Skyy, Nyla, Madison, McKayla, and Cayden; and her great-grandchild, Kordé. She is further survived by her sister, Theresa White; her niece, Brucetta White; nephew, Jihad White; and a close family friend, Betty Gleaton; along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
Belendia Carolyn Anderson leaves behind a rich legacy of faith,
love, strength, and service—one that will continue to inspire
all who were blessed to have known her.
