Beatrice Richardson Miller Obituary

Beatrice Richardson Miller was born August 15 ,1933, in Richland County, South Carolina.   She was the beloved and youngest of nine (9) children born to the late Essex and Catherine Gibson Richardson.  She departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

Beatrice was educated in the public schools Richland County, South Carolina where she attended Mill Creek School and then Booker T. Washington High School.  She was employed with Epworth Children’s Home, Hand Middle School and was a private health care sitter for many years.

Mrs. Miller was a faithful, dedicated, and life-long member of Zion Mill Creek Baptist Church.  During her tenure, she served as a Deaconess along with her husband, a member of the Missionary and Kitchen Ministries and the Jubilee choir.  Beatrice was also known for her amazing cooking, speaking her mind, and her love for her family and friends.  She was also a “Hat Connoisseur” and a timeless Fashionista.

Deaconess Miller was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother aunt, and friend.  Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts of all who loved and knew her.

Beatrice was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, the late Deacon James Miller, Jr.; two sons, Alonzo and Derrick Miller; her grandson, Anthony Miller; brothers, James, John (Carrie), Earnest (Maxine), and Essex (Elsie) Richardson; and her sisters, Josephine (Frank) Martin, Easter (Hilliard) Goodwin, Martha (Wiley) Hinton, Mary (Ronnie) Davis and Lillie (Abraham) Jones.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Beatrice are her loving son, James Miller III; and her loving and caring daughters, Mary Ann Bookert and Cendea Moorehead; eight (8) grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
