Barbara Ann Bethel Obituary

Barbara Ann Green Bethel was born October 1, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Ollie and Rachel Green Hill. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Barbara was educated in the Public Schools of Richland School District One where she graduated from C. A. Johnson High School. She was employed for many years at Craft Farrow State Hospital where she worked as a Mental Health Assistant.

Affectionately called “Ms. B,” by family and friends, Barbara helped to raise her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. During her spare time, she enjoyed watching Westerns, old television shows, and listening to R & B Oldie Goldies.

Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a legacy of love that will live in the hearts of all those who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Bethel; her brothers, Matthew, and Charles Hill; and her sister, Rosa L. Samuel.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Barbara are her loving daughters, Janice D. Baker and Tracey L. Bethel; and her son, James A. Bethel, all of Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Tamara D. Bethel of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Ronald M. Baker of Louisville, KY, Tamika (Brian) Felder of Kathleen, GA; Patick D.
