Mr. Archie Sims Jr. was born on September 25, 1937, in Prosperity, S.C. to the late Archie Sims Sr. and Daisy Sims. Archie Sims entered eternal life on October 15, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Lexington Medical Center.
Archie Sims Jr. attended public schools in Prosperity. At an early age he found his calling as a singer. He was one of the lead singers in the gospel group The Golden Harmonairs and wrote many of their songs such as “Carry The Bible With You” and “I Been On This Journey”, just to name a few. On April 4, 1963, he married the love of his life, Ms. Louvenia Suber. Out of that union were three children: Sandra, Linda, and Reginald
Archie was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. For many years, he worked and retired at Pacific Mills which later became Spring Mills. He enjoyed retirement because it allowed him to spend more time with his family, grandchildren and great-grands. He was a faithful member of College Place United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Cleophus “Tank” Sims and Richard Clarence Sims and his daughters Sandra Hinton and Linda Sims.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Louvenia Sims of Columbia, SC; two sisters: Martha Sims of Prosperity, SC and Mary Sims of Prosperity, SC; one son Reginald “Reggie” L. Sims of Columbia, SC, five grandchildren: Branden Sims of Columbia, SC, Cierra Hinton of Columbia, SC; Santana Grimes of Columbia, SC, Quentin Sims of Fort Greely, Alaska and London Richardson of Columbia, SC; 2 great-grandchildren: Branden “Lil B” Sims of Columbia, SC and Zoey Wilson of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
