Anthony Eric Brown, Jr. affectionately known as “Duke” was born February 22, 1994, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Jamil V. Bell Kelty (Derrick) and the late Anthony Eric Brown, Sr. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Anthony unexpectedly passed away at the blessed age of thirty-two (32).
Anthony was educated in the schools of Lexington School District Two and Richland School District One where he went on to become a graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, SC in the Class of 2013. He was rightfully nicknamed “A-Train” in high school because of his outstanding talent on the football field. He continued to share his talent on the field while attending Mars Hill University in North Carolina for a brief stint. He went on to work various jobs and was currently employed with PRS Auto, LLC as an unloader.
Beyond work and family, Duke’s love of football brought out the competitor and athleticism in him. Duke will always be remembered for his kindness, sweet nature to make everyone feel seen and valued, his sense of humor, and the way he lit up a room with his infectious smile.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and one brother, Cameron Liverman.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are his loving mother, Jamil V. (Derrick) Kelty; his loving siblings, Rateisha (Kendrick) Hammond, Kenneth “Lil Kenny” Liverman, Jr., Vanessa “Lil Vanessa” Brown, Jordan R. Spry, Joshua L. Spry, Milani G. Kelty, and Phenominal Green-Brown, all of Columbia, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, as well as a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are sadden by his untimely departure, and will forever miss him.
