Anthony C. Thompson

Anthony Courvosier Thompson, lovingly known as “Ant,” departed this life on May 7, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina, at the age of 24. Born in West Columbia, South Carolina, Anthony was the beloved son of Alexandria Laura Phillips and Donnie McCoy.

Anthony was a bright and deeply memorable soul whose presence left an impression wherever he went. He possessed an infectious smile, a natural charisma, and a sharp curiosity that drew him toward anything that sparked his interest. Whether researching a new topic simply to understand it better, engaging in conversation, or pursuing a new idea, Anthony approached life with a restless intelligence and openness that made him uniquely himself. He was adaptable, charming, thoughtful, and notably humble—never too proud to acknowledge when he was wrong, and quick to offer a sincere apology.

From childhood, Anthony displayed remarkable initiative and determination. Long before adulthood, he had already developed the instincts of an entrepreneur, selling candy throughout the neighborhood instead of asking for an allowance and later organizing neighborhood children into a small lawn-care business of his own. That same drive remained with him as he grew older, shaping a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to provide for the people he loved.

Anthony spent much of his life in the Columbia and Irmo communities, where he built friendships, memories, and connections that remained meaningful throughout his life. Creativity lived at the center of who Anthony was. Music, especially, was one of his greatest passions. He loved writing rap lyrics, composing music, and expressing himself through words. His taste in music reflected his wide-ranging personality, spanning from artists like Tupac, Michael Jackson, King Von, and Lil Durk to contemporary artists across multiple genres. He also found joy in anime, storytelling, and the simple excitement of discovering something new.

Anthony dreamed expansively. He spoke of traveling the world, learning Spanish, and experiencing life beyond familiar horizons. He carried ambitions, plans, and hopes for the future that reflected both his imagination and his determination.

Faith remained an enduring part of Anthony’s life. As a child, he attended church and participated in Boy Scouts through his church community. As an adult, his faith continued to matter deeply to him, and he often spoke about God, his beliefs, and his desire to share that faith with others. In his own writings, Anthony encouraged others to love, forgive, stay humble, cherish life, and trust in the Lord.

Though Anthony’s life held complexities beyond his years, it was also filled with love, laughter, ambition, and moments of genuine connection. Those who knew him will remember not only his humor and charisma, but also the thoughtfulness, sincerity, and humanity beneath them. Anthony cherished family deeply and held hopes for the future rooted in love, purpose, and possibility.
