Alice Hammond was born June 11, 1960, the daughter of the late Wesley Hammond and Lillie Mae Belton, in Ridgeway, SC. She departed this life on November 11, 2023.
Alice Hammond was affectionately called Teresa, a beloved sister, aunt, and cherished member of our community leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a tireless dedication to her family.
Teresa found her calling in the art of housekeeping, a profession she embraced with unparalleled dedication and pride. For many years, she served as a housekeeper in various hotels, where her meticulous attention to detail, unwavering work ethic, and warm demeanor left an indelible mark on both colleagues and guests alike. Teresa's commitment to creating a welcoming and impeccably clean environment made her an invaluable asset to every establishment for which she was ever employed.
Beyond her professional life, Teresa found immeasurable joy in caring for her nieces and nephews. Babysitting became not only a responsibility, but a source of pure delight for her. Teresa's nephews and nieces will forever cherish the memories of her nurturing presence, as she guided them with a gentle hand and a loving heart.
Teresa's life was a testament to the idea that the work we do, both professionally and personally, leaves a lasting impact on those around us. Her dedication to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in hotels mirrored her commitment to creating a warm and loving home for her family. As we mourn the loss of Teresa, let us also celebrate the joy she brought to our lives and the love she shared so generously. She will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to family, and the countless moments of comfort she provided for all who were lucky enough to call her family or friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Monroe Belton, Sr., and Minnie L. Belton; sisters, Shirley Ann Belton-Harrison, Sonjah Louise “Cricket” Hammond, Carolyn Denise Hammond, and Veronica Hammond; a brother, Abraham Hammond; two nephews, Rashawn Williams, and Nicholas Borom, Jr; and special friend, Gregory Broadnax.
She leaves behind a loving sister, Faye L. Hammond of Columbia, SC; one brother, Reco Hammond of Tennessee; two aunts, Geneva Millhouse of Washington, DC, and Lula B. Hammond of New York; three adored nieces, Fiona (Jonathan) Moore, Cameika (Tarik) Hammond, and Tierra Hammond; ten nephews, Norman (Zel), Scirocco (Rocky), Sheldon, Christopher (Ann), Cedric, Marcus (Destiny), Derrick “DJ”, Nicholas, Marquis, and Vincent (Vinnie); great nieces, T’Keyah, Nubian, Shariah, Neveah, La’Myah, Mariah, Milan (Big Happy Snappy); and a host of other great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends that will miss her dearly.
