Alberta Young Redmond was born on September 18, 1953, in West Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Jessie M. and Bessie Holmes Young. On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the peace of her home, Alberta was called to eternal rest from her journey here on Earth.
Alberta attended the public schools of Lexington County and was a 1971 graduate of Brookland Cayce High in Cayce, South Carolina. She was a dedicated employee of Allied Chemical for many years before retiring. Alberta was also a Civic Member of American Legion Post 215 and a Lifetime Member of VFW of Columbia.
Alberta was a dedicated and active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in West Columbia, South Carolina. When she was not in church, she was enjoying and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, cross word puzzles, softball, and cooking.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Though she is no longer physically with us, her bold, unapologetic, loving, kind, and truthful spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Redmond; sister, Linda Young; and brother, Kenneth Young.
Alberta leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving son, Keith Young; daughter/(special niece), Ashley Thompson; one grandson, Trevor Alexander; two granddaughter, Kiara Young and Faith Young; three sisters, Caroyln Goodson, Loretta Young, and Connie (Thomas) Thompson; three brothers, James Melvin (Robbie S.) Young, Jessie (Pam) Young, and Calvin Young; three nephews; seven nieces, a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom loved and will dearly miss her.
