A beautiful, loved one has gone no words for the legacy of Ada Mae Dennis has left on our family. Her smile, her shining personality will live on in our hearts, which can’t be filled.
On Tuesday May 13, 2025, God came into Baptist Medical Center and came into Ada’s room and spoke to her “My faithful servant, job well done!” He reached out His arm, picked her up and said, “Welcome home my daughter.”
Sister Ada Dennis was born Dec 18, 1953 in Columbia, S.C., to the late Mack and Birdell Barnes Dennis. She was a longtime resident of Batesburg, Leesville. She was a faithful member of the Zion Hopewell Full Gospel Family Worship Center in Gilbert, SC. Ada was a member of Women of Destiny (a women ministry at the church) and also a help wherever she needed, mainly in the kitchen at the church, before her health failed. Ada loved to cook and bake, she was well known for her potato pies and chili and loved being on the phone talking to her brother Jeff.
Ada was preceded in death by her four sisters, Maxine and Margie Ruth Dennis, Birdell D. Perry, and Janice D. Etheredge. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Arcenia (Joe) Lawver of Columbia, South Carolina; her son, Orlando (Dawn) Haltiwanger, her grandchildren, Janeius Haltiwanger, Demetrius Haltiwanger, Armani Haltiwanger, Ashton Haltiwanger, Michelle Lawver, Katelyn Fender; great grandchildren, Malayah Trapp and Jamais Haltiwanger; three brothers, Deacon Wesley (Joanne) Dennis, Damon (Etta) Dennis, and Larry (Juliette) Dennis; her spiritual family; niece, Audrey (Alex) Garner; nephew, Theotis (Toni) White II; Sisters-in-Christ, Minister Beverly Taylor, Katricia O’Brien and Jennifer W. Thompson. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and many friends throughout the community who will miss her dearly.
