Abegail Colletta Thompson was born July 19, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Ruth Barnes and Owens Odom. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
“Gail “, as she was affectionately called by family and friends was educated in the public schools of Richland County where she attended Columbia High Adult Night School. She continued her education at Midlands Technical College and received as associate degree in General Office Management.
She was employed with several business including the Golden Eagle Motel, Fort Jackson Food Services, Taco Bell, Nations Bank/Bank of America, the SC Department of Mental Health Food Services, and Janitorial Services at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Abegail joined New Hope Baptist Church in 2009. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Abegail was also preceded in death by two sons, Toby Jermaine Odom and Alfred Lefon Odom; sisters, Pamela E. Baker, Wanda Ann Odom and Brendetta J. Newton.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Abegail are her loving daughter, Lillie Jackson, and her loving son, Samuel Jackson; her special friend, Darril Dozier, all of Columbia, SC; two granddaughters, and one grandson; caring brothers, Christopher Odom, William Michael Odom, Alfred B. Odom, and Owens Odom Jr. ; sisters, Janulita (Rev. Charles) Chambers and Emma Leslie Odom-Kounta; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure.
