William Taylor, Sr. Obituary

We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of William “Bill” Taylor, Sr.

William Taylor, Sr. was born on January 24, 1951, in Columbia, SC. He was the son of the late Eugene and Marie Taylor. Bill departed this life on November 6, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.

William attended Richland One Public Schools. William was retired from Concrete Finisher after working there for many years.

William Taylor Sr. was affectionately known as “Uncle Bill” to his friends and family. He was a gentle giant in stature, loving and affectionate to those he came in contact with. Bill enjoyed dancing and making others laugh with his famous jokes and rhymes. He also loved riding his bikes, sitting on the porch, enjoying nature, and showing acts of kindness by helping out in the neighborhood. Everyone knew he was a “die-hard” Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Taylor, Jr.; and four sisters, Ann Taylor (his twin), Norma Jean Turner, Lottie-Mae Scott, and Laura Lide.

William Taylor, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife of 40 years, Stephanie Griffin Taylor; three children, Steven L. Griffin, Sameka Taylor, and William Taylor, Jr.; five siblings, Della (John) Lawson, David Taylor, Margaret Thomas Taylor, Minnie Morris, and Eleanor Morris; three grandchildren he adores, LaDarius (Boo Boo) Taylor, JahNaysia (NuNu) Taylor and Kristian (Bootsie) Taylor; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and devoted friends.
