Wilbert Harris Obituary

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.  - II Timothy 4:7-8

Mr. Wilbert “Bryant” Harris affectionately known as “Wil” departed this Earthly life on May 22, 2019 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.  He was born on January 8, 1972 in Columbia, South Carolina to Cora Cunningham and the late Wilbert Harris.

He was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior and was baptized at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Hopkins, SC. Shortly thereafter, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4.

“Bryant” was known to be a hardworking individual. He worked as a contractor, remodeling both residential homes and businesses until his health declined. In his spare time, he worked as an auto mechanic and installed stereo systems.

“Bryant” was very family-oriented and comical. He enjoyed sharing stories about his childhood and of the many struggles he overcame.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He always looked forward to football season, boasting and bragging about his favorite football team. He was a great father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend who touched the lives of many who loved, admired, and respected him.  He will be remembered by his grand spirit, big smile and dimples that will always and forever be in our hearts and minds.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilbert Harris; maternal grandmother Letha Goodson and paternal grandmother Lucille Harris Perminter.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved mother, Cora Cunningham of Gadsden, SC; Freda Richardson (companion); daughter, Brandi Richardson-Harris and stepson, Alexander Richardson, all of Columbia, SC; four brothers, Webber Cunningham, Quincy Cunningham, Robert (Cheryl) Harris, all of Hopkins, SC and James Cunningham of Gadsden, SC; four sisters, Aletha Cunningham, Roberta (David) Pringle, Sheila (Charles) Frasier, all of Gadsden, South Carolina and Margarita Ladson of Columbia, SC; grandchild, Kamilah Apple; two uncles, Luther Simons of Gadsden, SC and Leroy Simons of Orlando, FL; two aunts, Patricia Cunningham of Gadsden, SC and Carrie Bell Burns of Jamaica, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family, and sorrowing friends.
