Tyrone Davis Obituary

Mr. Tyrone Davis was born on April 4, 1972 to the late Mr. Leroy Davis and Mrs. Doris Carol Jordan Davis. He was the youngest of three sons born to this union. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Wanda Denise Kimpson Davis of Orangeburg, South Carolina. He departed this life on July 10, 2019.

Tyrone was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He attended Webber Elementary, Hopkins Junior High, and was a 1990 graduate of Lower Richland High School. He pursued further studies of higher education at South Carolina State University from which he graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He earned his Masters of Arts in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2008 from the University of Phoenix.

Tyrone was employed with Richland County School District One where he had many opportunities to work with and help to develop the lives of many individuals. He worked with the Upward Bound Program developing the lives of both young men and young women at Claflin University and The University of South Carolina. Tyrone was an assistant football coach at the following high schools: Lower Richland, Orangeburg-Wilkinson, WJ Keenan, CA Johnson, and Heathwood Hall. He was also a Head Coach at Eau Claire High School. He served as an assistant basketball coach for WJ Keenan Ladies’ Basketball. He coached at Allen University and South Carolina State University. Tyrone also served as an Athletic Director at Alcorn Middle and WA Perry Middle.

Mr. Davis leaves fond memories and a heartfelt legacy to his four children through the knowledge of the organizations he belonged to and worked with including Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association. Tyrone was also named a Top 100 Player of South Carolina State University, 1994 SBN Sports Network Black College All-American, played on the 1994 South Carolina State University Heritage Bowl Championship team, the team was also the MEAC Champions of that year.

He leaves cherished memories to his wife, Mrs. Wanda Denise Davis; his four children, Tyrone Davis, Jr., T’Andra Shontel Davis, Terrell Rashad Davis, and Tamyra Charmaine Davis all of Hopkins, South Carolina; two brothers, Wilbert Leroy (Michelle Denise) Davis of Eastover, South Carolina and David O’Neal (Theartra) Davis, Sr. of Hopkins, South Carolina; God-daughters, Jasmine Adams and Dorothy Jordan Davis; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Eula Kimpson of Orangeburg, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law, Melody Ann Kimpson of Orangeburg, South Carolina; Joyce Katrina Kimpson of Decatur, Georgia, Crystal Lynn Kimpson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Demeka Shawnte’ Kimpson of Charlotte, North Carolina; a special cousin and dear friend, Warren Daniel Glover of Columbia, South Carolina; eight uncles, Mr. Lloyd Davis of Lakeland, Florida, Mr. Ernest Lee (Linda) Davis of Orlando, Florida, Mr. James Bernard (Altodise) Davis of Bartow, Florida, Judge Willie (Carolyn) Robinson, Jr. of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Mr. Wilbert J. (Katherine) Jordan, Mr. Luther A. (Wilma) Jordan, Mr. Willie D. (Veeravanitha) Jordan and Mr. Roy B. Jordan all of Eastover, South Carolina; four aunts, Mrs. Parthenia Byrd of Bartow, Florida, Ms. Sallie Ann Kimpson of St. Matthews, South Carolina, Mrs. Mildred (Francis) Myers of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Reverend Cynthia J. Perry of Eastover, South Carolina; a special aunt, Ms. Carrie E. Cannon of Blythewood, South Carolina, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends who will sorely miss his earthly presence.
