Ms. Tameka Takelia Rikard was born March 14, 1977 in Columbia, SC. She was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Shirley Boyd and Mr. Calvin Boyd. On Sunday, July 14, 2019, Tameka departed this earthly life for eternal rest with God at Prisma Health Richland, Columbia, SC.
Tameka was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. She was employed by Lexington/Richland School District 5 at Crossroads Intermediate School as a Student Nutrition Operator. She was a dedicated and devoted employee and loved working with the children.
Tameka joined Pleasant Springs Church and worshipped at New Life House of Praise under the leadership of Reverend Carol Cooper. She was part of the Sowing Good Seeds Women Ministry and the Hospitality Committee. She was a faithful and dedicated servant of God. Anytime the church doors opened, Tameka was always there willing and wanting to help any way she could with a smile on her face.
Tameka lived a joy filled life. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, niece, auntie and friend. Tameka was a God-fearing woman. She had a heart of gold. She believed in family first. Everyone who knew her, knew that her children were her life. She worked very hard to make sure they had everything they not only needed, but wanted. If you want to know the definition of mother, you don’t have to look in the dictionary, you can look at Tameka. She made sure her children knew who God was! She always kept them actively involved in church. Not only was her salvation important to her, but also the salvation of her children and family. Her loyalty and compassion were beyond what words could describe. Her favorite song was “Thank You Lord”.
Tameka was preceded in death by her daughter, Tamea Rikard; maternal grandparents Simpson and Oreather Brown; and paternal grandparents, Tommie Lee and Emma Boyd, and James and Nancy Rikard.
Tameka leaves to cherish precious memories: her loving and devoted parents, Shirley Boyd and Calvin Boyd of Columbia, SC; three dedicated sons Gary McFadden Jr., Calvin Luther McFadden and DeMarcus McFadden, all of Columbia, SC; one beautiful daughter Tae’Dra Rikard of Columbia, SC; brother Marcus (Ange) Boyd of Charlotte, NC; nieces and nephews, Sydney Boyd and Kingston Boyd both of Charlotte, NC and London Roberts of Columbia, SC; uncles Louis Kennedy and Fred Boyd of Winnsboro, SC, Eleazor (Mary Ann) Boyd, Ezzard (Jackie) Brown, Moses (Yolanda) Brown, Simpson Brown and Willie Brown all of Columbia, SC; best friend, Janet Mobley; three special people who were important in her life, Darlene Rikard, Michelle Rikard and Patricia Corley all of Columbia, SC; as well as a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
