Sylvester Ervin Jones

Mr. Sylvester Ervin Jones, affectionately known as “Diddy”, was born January 2, 1955, to Ms. Katherine T. Jones and the late Mr. Willie Jones, Sr. in Columbia, SC. He entered into eternal rest on March 31, 2019, at Richland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was educated in the public schools of Richland County and later went on to join the Job Corps in Morganville, Kentucky.

“Diddy” was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was also a very devoted sports fan of the football team, New England Patriots, and Basketball team, Boston Celtics, and enjoyed having fun with family and friends.

Sylvester “Diddy” was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willie Jones, Sr.; brothers, Willie Jones, Jr. and Melvin L. Jones; sisters, Ms. Janie Mae Jones, Ms. Easter Mae Jones, and Isabell “sista” Jones.

Sylvester Ervin Jones leaves to cherish very fond memories: his mother, Ms. Katherine T. Jones; sons, Mr. Travis Jermelle Jones, and Maurice Furtick; two grandchildren, Jahmaria Jones, and Alima Queen Jones; brothers, Oscar Jones and Frank Jones; sisters, Loretta (Robert) Bates, Christine Jones, Delores Jones Nelson, and Darlene Jones; nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends that will truly miss him dearly.
