Samuel Goodwin Obituary

Mr. Sam Goodwin of Columbia, South Carolina was born on November 20, 1939.   He was the beloved son of the late Annie T. Goodwin.

He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and continued his education at South Carolina State University and Benedict College which he studied Criminal Justice.  He was employed with the SC Department of Correction as a Warden at Manning Correction Institute and made a transition of job to become a Federal Marshall for the Strom Thurmond Federal Building for many years until his retirement.  Later on he decided to go back to work with Richland School District One, which he gave all he could do to work until he done had enough.

He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.  During his leisure time, he loved playing his favorite sport of golf.  He had played so well that he had won several championship trophies.

He was preceded in death by this mother, Annie T. Goodwin, brothers, Neal, Curtis and Leroy along with two nephews, Aaron Kelly, Sr. and Sherman Goodwin.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are his sister-in-law, Jeanette Jacobs Myers; nieces, Cynthia Myers-Martin, Janice M. (Charles) Geiger, Brenda K. Myers, Lafaye M. (James) Cooper all of Columbia, SC, Bernita (Charles) Carthan of Maryland, Yvonne Goodwin of Denver Colorado; nephews, Reginald Myers and Anthony Goodwin both of Columbia, SC; a devoted friend, Hubert Holley and other loving and caring relatives and friends, all whom will miss him dearly.
