Sammie Lee Mixon, Sr.

Mr. Sammie Lee Mixon, Sr. was born October 6, 1931 in Darlington County, SC. He was the fifth child of fifteen born to James T. and Emma D. Mixon. He departed this life on Sunday, December 30, 2018.

He completed his education in Florence County School system. Mr. Mixon worked proudly with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for 30 years.

He was a dedicated member of Francis Burns Methodist Church for many years and served as a Trustee and Usher.

Mr. Mixon enjoyed working with his hands, working on vehicles, building things, electrical work, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Sammie L. Mixon leaves to mourn his passing: his wife of 68 years, Girlene P. Mixon; daughter, Gerthina S. Mixon-Darby (Hosea); sons , Sammie L. Mixon, Jr. (Bonnie), and James T. Mixon (Rosemary); one surviving brother, Otto Mixon (Mildred); fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 3 surviving sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
