Mr. Rufus Richardson, Sr. was born on April 22, 1946 in Eastover, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Roosevelt and Ella Mae Richardson. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, following an acute illness. He was married to his lovely bride Annie Mae Richardson for 50 years.
Affectionately known as “Boogie”, he was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He was employed as a Janitor at Hammond Middle School in which he retired in 1992.
Mr. Rufus Richardson, Sr. was baptized at dedicated member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gadsden, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt and Ella Mae Richardson; two sisters, Nancy Richardson and Bertha Reese both of Eastover, South Carolina; two brothers, Roosevelt Richardson of Eastover, South Carolina and Leon Richardson of Columbia, South Carolina, two son-in laws; Reverend Henry Presley of Charlotte, North Carolina and John Davis of Gadsden, South Carolina, one brother-in-law; John (Lula Mae) Taylor of Columbia, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Hattie Oree of Columbia, South Carolina, Martha (Edward) Parker Macon and Margaret Bouknight both of Gadsden, South Carolina.
He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories with, his lovely bride Annie Mae Richardson of Gadsden, South Carolina; two beautiful two sons: Rufus(Jacoba) Richardson, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina and John Richardson of Eastover, South Carolina; three daughters: Patricia (Willie) Turner of Hopkins, South Carolina , Valerie Davis of Gadsden, South Carolina, and Theresa Presley of Charlotte, North Carolina; five sisters; Lottie (Tilman) China, Janice (Robert) Macon, Helen (Moses) Shiver and Marie Arthur all of Eastover, South Carolina, Yvonne (Samuel) McKie of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Robert (Renee)Richardson of Patterson, New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Lewis (Willie Mae) Taylor of Hopkins, South Carolina; nineteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
