Robert Sims was born March 14, 1957 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Eddie Herrin and Mae Jeanette Sims Nickson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janie Sims a brother, Roger Sims and, a brother-in-law, Leroy Blanks.
One of seven children, Robert was educated in the public school system in Columbia. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized by Bishop Redfern II, and became a parishioner of Christ Central Ministries, Columbia, South Carolina. Robert entered Job Corps in the 1970's and advanced to become an officer in the United States Army. Subsequent to his discharge from the Armed Forces, Robert became employed in the roofing and construction fields.
Robert departed this life on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to his departure his sister, Angela Bryant, was his caregiver.
Robert leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to his siblings: Samuel (Teresa) Sims of Mullins, South Carolina; Warren (Virginia) Sims, Angela Bryant, Pastor Betty Fairnot, and Charlene Sims, all of Columbia, South Carolina. He also leaves cherished memories to a brother-in-law, Reuben Blanks, Columbia, South Carolina; a dear friend, Arnold Basket, Columbia, South Carolina; and, a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
